Alphonse D'amato
From an educational standpoint, Al D’Amato has always striven for excellence. Raised in Long Island, New York he attended high school at Chaminade where he performed well enough to find admittance into Syracuse University. The year was 1955 and Al Damato was 18-years-old. The teenager made a decision to study Business and within four years received his Bachelor’s of Science degree in Business. Subsequently he was admitted to Syracuse University’s Law School where, again, he was highly successful as a scholar and graduated in two years in 1961.Senator Al Damato did much to champion the cause of education while serving the people of New York. As a Senator he consistently voted in favor of educational improvements and sustenance.

- Voted Yes on educational savings accounts which called for tax shelters for educational savings accounts
- Voted Yes on school vouchers in Washington D.C.
- Voted Yes on a $75 million for abstinence education which assisted in reducing the number of teenage pregnancies
